Next, timing is everything as they say. Schedule the appointment soon after a nap or a meal to ensure the child is not crying because of being tired or hungry. It is often a great idea to bring their favorite small sized snacks to distract them, or reward them with great behavior.
Another great idea is to role-play at home. Practice spraying their hair with warm water, put a towel around their neck to imitate a hair cape, and do this in front of a mirror while gently combing their hair. Use a favorite doll or stuffed animal to pretend combing and shaping their hair.
Don?t say the word ?cut? to your child, because that sounds like it?s going to hurt. Often times using the phrase ?we are going to shape your hair today, because children understand the word shape.
